Kauai Bassist and Educator
Dave Minor is a native San Francisco Bay Area bassist and music teacher with 25 years of professional playing experience. He fell in love with the bass guitar at 13 and by 18, he was gigging around the Bay in an 8-piece funk band. The Bay Area’s diverse music scene has proved a fertile environment for Dave to immerse himself in rock rock n’ roll, folk, pop, blues, jazz and his beloved funk and R&B. Having just recently relocated to Kauai with his family, Dave is excited to share his musicianship with the island community!
Dave previously has had the opportunity to share the stage with artists as varied as The Tubes, The Crash Test Dummies, Goapele, Calvin Keys, Al Kooper, Stanley Jordan, Alvon Johnson, Daniel Castro and many others. Dave currently splits his time performing with his funk jazz band, Dminor Quartet, Wrongway Jackson & Friends and others. Dave has also been providing music education for over a decade through his music school Small Steps Music.
As well as his musicianship, Dave is known for his dynamic energy and fun attitude on and off the stage. Regardless of the musical situation, artist or style, his first priority is laying down a solid groove and giving the song and band a great foundation!
